
Ada Gossett
1939-02-17 2014-01-07Ada's parents were Mason and Margaret Smith Thurman. She was the only child of their holy union. She was the granddaughter of John and Ada Maloney Smith. She is survived by her oldest son Greg Gossett and only daughter Cynthia Gossett. And a great host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many other loved ones.
Ada Gossett was born February 17, 1939, in Prescott, Arkansas to Mason and Margaret Thurman. Ada was the only child to this union. While living in Prescott, Ada attended McRae High School . Ada made it a point of interest to attend every class reunion at McRae High School. In the 1950’s Ada and her mother Margaret moved to Omaha, NE and lived with Aunt Gert, which Ada talked about frequently. Ada attended Kellom Elementary and Technical High School in Omaha, NE. On January 19, 1957, Ada united in marriage to George Gossett and to this union three children were born-Gregory, Jeffrey and Cynthia. Ada was employed at Northern Natural Gas and the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She retired from both Northern Natural Gas and the University of Nebraska at Omaha as a supervisor. Traveling was one of her joys of life with her family which consisted every summer. Ada accepted Christ at an early age which she enjoyed serving her father until her departure. Ada’s lifelong church was Freestone Baptist Church where she was a “Mother of the church.” Ada departed this life on January 7, 2014 as a child of God. Ada was preceded in death by her father and mother Mason and Margaret Thurman, husband George, son and step-son Jeffrey and Bennie. Ada is survived by her son Gregory (Sandra) and daughter Cynthia of Omaha, NE. Grandchildren Troy, Bennie Jr.(Shawndra), Melvia, Marketta(Jason), Clover, Kirlisha, April, MaKayla, Amanda, Michael, Chelsey and Cheyenne, four great-grandchildren, the Smith, Ward, Maloney and Bogards and a host of friends and other relatives. Wake 5-7pm Tues., Funeral Home. SERVICES 1pm Wed., Freestone Primitive Baptist Church, 4023 Ames Ave. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery
